Festival dell’Ingegneria 2022

Thanks to everyone who attended the Festival dell‘Ingegneria last weekend and visited the activities of the COMPASS group of the DAER of Politecnico di Milano! It was great to discuss with you the challenges of space sustainability, climate change and appreciate how Space is for Earth!

A new analytical model to evaluate collision probability with large satellite constellations

In a space environment with an ever-growing satellite population, the latest paper by Eduardo Polli, Juan Luis Gonzalo and Camilla Colombo eases studies in the context of Space Situational Awareness, by developing an algorithm capable of assessing the average collision probability between an object subjected to continuous tangential thrust, and tens of thousands of constellations’ satellites, all within milli-seconds. IAC22 ASI scholarship winners in COMPASS

Our Ph.D. candidates Alessandro Masat and Marco Nugnes have been awarded two of the Agenzia Spaziale Italiana’s (ASI) scholarship to participate at the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC22) in Paris and the Space Generation Congress (SGC2022) organised by the Space Generation Advisory Council.
