Thanks to everyone who attended the Festival dell‘Ingegneria last weekend and visited the activities of the COMPASS group of the DAER of Politecnico di Milano! It was great to discuss with you the challenges of space sustainability, climate change and appreciate how Space is for Earth!
Last weekend, the COMPASS group opened its doors during the first edition of Festival dell’Ingegneria. Our research group participated to the open-labs events of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano on Saturday and Sunday, sharing our exciting activities in the field of space sustainability.
The COMPASS group participated to the 8th European Conference on Space Debris organised by ESA/ESOC on 20-23 April 2021. The conference, held every four years, represents the largest gathering of researchers and professional working on space debris related activities and topics. The COMPASS group contributed with 4 oral presentations and 3 posters.
The COMPASS team took part in Milano Digital Week for the first time this year, with a series of online talks about space sustainability and the services provided by satellites. You can find the recordings at our YouTube channel.
COMPASS was back at MEETmeTONIGHT in the virtual edition of 2020! Our team of researchers inspired the audience with an interactive presentation on the benefits of space for mankind and the evolution of space technology toward sustainable and smart solutions.

Prof. Danielle Wood from Space Enable MIT Media Lab and Prof. Camilla Colombo from COMPASS talk about “Sustainability in Space and on Earth” on a webinar co-organized by the Italian Space Agency and the US Consulate in Milan.
Prof. Willer Gomes dos Santos, from the Space Center (CEI) of the Brazilian Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA), delivered a seminar this Monday, 17 Feburary 2020, at PoliMi’s Department of Aerospace Science and Technology. In the seminar, he gave an overview of the present and future small satellite projects of the CEI.
The COMPASS team presented its research about “Sustainable Space for Smart Life” to students from Stendhal Elementary School in an interactive lecture aimed to inspire the young scientists of the future.
