The COMPASS group participated to the 72nd International Astronautical Congress this October in Dubai, UAE.
The COMPASS members participating contributed to the technical programme of the congress with several presentation on topics such as space debris, collision avoidance, asteroid ejecta dynamics, formation flying and active debris removal, and sustainability of space. For more info on the research works presented at the congress visit our LinkedIn page.
Our Ph.D. candidate Giacomo Borelli has been awarded one of the ASI scholarships to participate to the 72nd International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in Dubai this October.
Last weekend, the COMPASS group opened its doors during the first edition of Festival dell’Ingegneria. Our research group participated to the open-labs events of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology of Politecnico di Milano on Saturday and Sunday, sharing our exciting activities in the field of space sustainability.
Our Eduardo Maria Polli is participating in the Stardust-R Global Virtual Workshop II, presenting a new method for assessing the collision probability for an injecting or de-orbiting satellite that has to pass through a satellite constellation.
The COMPASS group participated to the 8th European Conference on Space Debris organised by ESA/ESOC on 20-23 April 2021. The conference, held every four years, represents the largest gathering of researchers and professional working on space debris related activities and topics. The COMPASS group contributed with 4 oral presentations and 3 posters.
The COMPASS team took part in Milano Digital Week for the first time this year, with a series of online talks about space sustainability and the services provided by satellites. You can find the recordings at our YouTube channel.
On December 16, Francesca Letizia from the ESA Space Debris Office gave a seminar at PoliMi about the sustainability of the space environment and the importance of space situational awareness for current space activities and for future space exploitation.
Mirko Trisolini from COMPASS participated to the 5th International Space Debris Re-entry Workshop organised by ESA, presenting his work on the re-entry and disposal of GEO satellites on resonant trajectories.
In-person meetings have become a rare luxury due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That is why the International Astronautical Federation has made the 71st International Astronautical Congress – The CyberSpace Edition their first fully online congress. On 12-14 October more than 10,000 attendees joined all over the world to share the latest space developments. The COMPASS team contributed with 5 papers and videolectures.
