The new paper published by Lorenzo Giudici, Juan Luis Gonzalo, Andrea Muciaccia and Camilla Colombo from Politecnico di Milano, and by Francesca Letizia from the European Space Agency presents the extension of a space debris index formulation to the medium Earth orbital region, developed in the framework of the ESA-funded project THEMIS.
PhD candidates Martina Rusconi and Xiaodong Lu from the COMPASS group took part in the 29th International Symposium on Space Flight Dynamics […]
Francesca Scala successfully defended her PhD thesis “Multiple satellites formation flying for earth observation applications in low Earth orbit” at Politecnico di Milano, to be awarded the doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Politecnico di Milano will host the “Space capacity allocation for the sustainability of space activities” workshop on 6th to 8th June: open to researchers, space operators and regulators to discuss on space sustainability and space capacity management. Register by 18/05/2023.

The new paper published in IEEE TGRS by Manuel Martin-Neira and co-authored by Francesca Scala, Camilla Colombo, ESA and Airbus D&S proposes an innovative mission concept, TriHex, to achieve high spatial and radiometric resolution for passive L-band application, approaching user needs beyond SMOS and SMAP missions.
The paper is available for early access at the following link: here.
Ph.D. student Andrea presented our work on space sustainability at the 9th Space Traffic Management Conference in Austin, Texas.
We are hiring! New junior researcher position at @compass @aerospacepolimi with application deadline on 17/02/2023 on the design of transfer trajectories in the three-body problem of the Earth-Moon system and the Sun-Earth system and the dynamics of orbits under the effects of solar radiation pressure.

New article on HPC and GPU computing! Alessandro Masat, Camilla Colombo, and Arnaud Boutonnet propose an augmentation scheme to optimise the computational performance of the massive orbit propagation problem.
Our Ph.D. candidate Francesca Scala has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) to attend the congress as an ESA-sponsored student for the International Space Education Board’s (ISEB) Student Program at the 73rd International Astronautical Congress (IAC22) in Paris.
