COMPASS @ ESA’s International Conference on Astrodynamics Tools and Techniques!

Turning 20 years old is always an especial occasion, but maybe more so for a technical conference. This week, the International Conference on Astrodynamics Tools and Techniques (ICATT) celebrates its eight edition, almost exactly 20 years after the first one in July 2001. In a pandemics-friendly virtual format, the conference was jointly organized with the 11th ESA GNC conference, gathering a diverse and engaged audience.

Alessandro Masat and Matteo Romano presented their research on planetary protection and space debris. A change in the equations of motion brings unprecedented improvement in the computational efficiency for the former, and a brand-new tool for the detection of new satellite fragmentations is proposed in the latter.
