The COMPASS team attended the 7th IAA Planetary Defense Conference from 26th to 30th April 2021, held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The use of advanced Monte Carlo sampling methods for estimating the probability of asteroid impacts is discussed in a paper authored by Matteo Romano and Camilla Colombo from the COMPASS team and Matteo Losacco and Pierluigi Di Lizia from PoliMi. On 11 December 2018, the ASI SMPAG Working Group and Politecnico di Milano organized a seminar on “Advanced Studies on NEO Deflection Strategies”. Mathieu Petit and Lorenzo Bolsi presented their latest work within the COMPASS project on NEO deflection.
June 30 was Asteroid day 2018 and ESA/ESO made a two-hour webcast. About 10 minutes were also spent on the MIAPP workshop “Near-Earth Objects”.
The MIAPP workshop on “Near-Earth Objects: Properties, Detection, Resources, Impacts and Defending Earth” took place from 14 May to 8 June 2018 in Munich.
