A journey through space at COMPASS control center in MeetMeTonight 2018

For the second year in a row COMPASS joined MeetMeTonight, Milan’s celebration of the “Researchers Night”, taking place Friday 28 and Saturday 29 at the Indro Montanelli gardens. Inspired by last year’s success, the team decided to kick it up a notch and upgrade our space control room with new software and a brand-new virtual reality experience.

Under the suggestive title “A 360 degrees space journey”, thousands of visitors stepped into our control room to discover the ubiquitous daily services provided by satellites in orbit, learn about the challenges posed by space debris to the sustainable use of space, and embark on a interplanetary journey to visit other planets and asteroids in our solar system.

The most adventurous explorers were treated to a virtual reality tour through all the manmade objects orbiting our planet, being fascinated by their tireless dance across the skies.
